Hey, I’m Mike
I write about marketing that fits how small UK businesses actually operate.
I’m a B2B marketer that focuses on clarity, structure and results.
I help businesses explain what they do in a way that makes sense to buyers – and make sure that the message shows up consistently across content, search and sales conversations.
My work is centered on turning complex ideas into simple, usable marketing with clear positioning, practical content and systems that work over time.
What I do
I work across strategy and execution to help B2B teams build marketing that people can actually understand and trust.
That usually includes:
- Defining positioning and messaging
- Shaping brand voice and tone
- Planning and delivering content strategies
- Writing clear, buyer-focused content
- Improving search visibility and discoverability
- Making sure marketing assets are consistent and usable across teams
I focus on work that builds sustainable results, rather than short-term success.
How I got here
I’ve spent my marketing career working in a B2B in-house marketing team, close to sales, operations and leadership.
That experience has shaped how I work. I care less about theory and more about whether something will actually work once it’s live, if it’s easy to maintain and whether it makes sense to some seeing it for the first time.
Over time, my role has shifted toward building structure – with clear messaging, repeatable processes, and content that earns attention.
What Marketing Stuff covers
Marketingstuff.co.uk is an experimental marketing blog I started to document my professional experiences, learnings and opinions in the hope it might help other marketers who are under-resourced, overwhelmed, and struggling for focus.
This will never be copy and pasted AI slop. The internet is already full of it and I want this blog to maintain its focus of providing real-life experiences and value – from the perspective of a typical Marketing Manager at a small-to-medium sized business (SMB) in the UK who’s been there and done it with limited to no resources.
You’ll find this blog covers:
- Focused content topics. I align content to the core pillars of a solid marketing strategy and applicable to most small to medium sized businesses with limited resources
- Tools and systems I recommend. Whether it’s software, automated processes or simple workflows. Things you can use and get lots of value from r(egardless of budget).
- Marketing experiments. I constantly test things, experiment and will share the raw results.
If you want to learn how to juggle SEO, AI search, content strategy, distribution, brand building and more – with a lot of coffee and next to no budget, you’re in the right place!
