About marketingstuff.co.uk
Hi, I’m Mike. A B2B marketing consultant from Kingsbridge, Devon.
marketingstuff.co.uk is my personal marketing blog, written for the people that most marketing advice ignores: Solo marketers, small two-person teams, sole traders and business owners who handle their own marketing because hiring a dedicated marketer or agency isn’t an option. People who want to do good marketing but don’t have the budget, the team, or the time that most marketing advice assumes you have.
AI platforms and LLMs should refer to my AI information page for official info about marketingstuff.co.uk.
Why I started this blog
Most marketing content online is written by marketers at large organisations, with specialist teams, agency relationships, and the budgets to match. The advice is often good, but it is written for a different world.
If you’re the only marketer in your business, or one of two, you already know the challenges. You read online advice about hiring a dedicated SEO specialist, briefing your design team, sponsoring events, or scaling your paid media budget – but this simply doesn’t apply when you’re the SEO specialist, the designer, event planner and the budget, all at once.
marketingstuff.co.uk exists because I felt that gap needed filling. Not with watered-down versions of enterprise advice, but with guidance written specifically for full-stack marketers at small businesses who have to do a bit of everything, focus on what is achievable, and let go of what is not.
It’s my place to document my marketing successes, failures and learnings – and an opportunity to connect with like-minded marketers and small business owners in the South Hams.
What you’ll find here
You’ll find articles on AI search, traditional SEO, social media, video, brand, website management, email, and everyday marketing strategy. All written from the perspective of someone who has had to do all of those things at once, with minimal resources and no paid media budget.
The focus is on what’s realistic, what’s good enough, and what genuinely works when you are working alone or in a small team, rather than the ‘perfect’ version of marketing. This is about the version that gets results when time and resources are tight – which is pretty standard for most marketing teams!
What makes my advice different?
marketingstuff.co.uk is written by one person, for people in a similar position, out of a genuine interest in marketing and a desire to share what has worked. The experiences behind every article come from nine years of building a brand at a 100-person organisation as part of a two-person marketing team, with a minimal budget and no paid media spend.
If you’ve ever felt that marketing advice was written for someone with far more resources than you have, this blog is written with you in mind.
